  • Pittsburg’s population has thrived, doubling in the last two decades to 61,100. It’s population is Diverse. Many young families - children make up 31% of population.
  • "Old-New" town. Old downtown has undergone much renovation, many new housing subdivisions throughout Pittsburg. New BART (rapid transit) extension and station opened in 1996 has eased the commute for many. Industrial companies including Dow and U.S. Posco are dominant but much of Pittsburg is suburban.

Things to Do Nearby

  • The Sierra Nevada is just a few hours drive away and is a popular ski destination in winter and camping and hiking is popular year round especially in and around Yosemite National Park.
  • San Francisco is less than an hour away by car or BART and offers city nightlife as well as concerts, museums, sporting events, and fine dining opportunities.
  • Paramount's Great America - Santa Clara. A large theme park offering thrill rides, shows, and restaurants.
  • Six Flags/Marine World - Vallejo. A large recently expanded theme park offering rides, restaurants, and an up-close look at lions, tigers, elephants, seals, whales, dolphins, etc. in their natural habitat and in wildlife shows.
  • The Mt. Diablo State Park - Offers miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, camping spots, rock climbing, and picnicking. Waterworld USA - Concord. Large waterpark. Water slides, lazy river, wave pools, restaurants, picnic areas, and volleyball courts. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • The Concord Pavilion was recently renovated and expanded to hold 12,500 people and attracts first class entertainers in country, rock, pop, classical, and jazz.

  • Sixteen screen movie complex in east Pittsburg.
  • Small World Park - Six-acre children's park features a carousel, riverboat and lighthouse, miniature train as well as large group and family picnic areas.
  • Annual Seafood Festival - September. Draws over 100,000 people to the Marina.
  • Junteenth Celebration - June. Music, food, craft booths, rides, games, and children's activities.
  • City Parks - Community swimming pools, tot lots, bocce courts, playing fields, picnic areas, tennis courts, basketball courts.
  • Marina - One of the largest in northern California (718 berths).
  • The Delta - Boating, water-skiing, fishing, swimming, houseboating.
  • Delta View Golf Course (public) Pittsburg Country Club and Golf Course (private)
  • Youth sports leagues and activities- Pop Warner football, Little League, basketball, soccer, swimming, etc. are offered through local schools as well as through the Pittsburg recreation department.
